Clay Pots

Let’s look at Isaiah 64:8:
“Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand”
This concept has always impacted me - we are as clay, constantly molded and perfected by the loving (sometimes firm!) hands of our Maker. From the start - He selected each and every one of us, seeing the potential that we have to bring Him glory. Then the throwing and molding began - sometimes it seems as though we can’t stand the molding anymore, but then just one loving touch of the Father reminds of that He loves us. Oh how He loves us!
One thing that is important during this process is our submission. Submitting to the work God wants to complete in us. That means we have to let go of some our stubborn ways, forget our own agendas, wants, and desires, and trade all for His perfect plan. The process is tough! And, the refining, and sometimes “start from scratch” process hurts, but it will, IT WILL lead to amazing horizons and transformation in Jesus!
There’s another dimension to this analogy. God desire to mold us into usable, strong, beautiful containers so that we can be continually filled up with more and more of Him, Holy Spirit, power, love, mercy…etc. And from this we are used for the glory of His name and pour out upon others. Here we can use what God has filled us with to help others be restored, molded, and filled by the Hand of the Lord.
Let’s submit to the hand of the Lord, becoming vessels continually used for His glory!
Take me, use me, wash me, cleanse me, Lord I come
Break me, mold me, and transform me, Lord I come
