Using Matthew 5 as a foundation, lets briefly look at the responsibilities of living with the favor of God. Once we enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, we are part of the royal family, under the blessing, that is, favor, of our Father and King. His favor upon us comes as comfort, Kingdom inheritance, provision, mercy, and much more (Matthew 5:3-10). As part of the covering of Almighty God, we have responsibilities, living with the amazing favor of God:
Obedience. “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.” 2 John 1:6. Through our act of love to the Father, we will obey His commands. We are blessed through our obedience to His Word and following His heart.
Repentance. “God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8. Clean hands and pure hearts - that is a desire and requirement of God (Ps. 24:3-4). How our we cleansed before the Lord? Through the blood of Jesus that covers us in repentance. Approaching Him with a pure heart receives of the blessing of seeing God - that is pretty amazing!
Love. Love encapsulates so much. We must show love first to God - the simple yet life - changing realization that we need him - changes the core of our heart and opens the floodgate of love for Jesus. From this love pours a love for His people - our family in the Kingdom of God. From love we will show mercy, seek peace, and bless those around us.
As part of the royal family of God, we have such an awesome privilege of living with the favor the King - and this is something not to take for granted. Walk into the blessing and covering He has so richly extended to us, actively pursuing His heart through a life of intimacy with Him!
