  • Fear Not For I am With You

    Isaiah 43:1 states:

But now, this is what the LORD says - he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ”Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

What a promise from the Lord! In this passage, the prophet Isaiah is speaking the Word of the Lord, speaking against the fear of the nation. This passage speaks to the fear in each one of us, an individual.  God knows each one of us by name - we belong to Him! that is amazing.  And it goes beyond that - we have no reason to fear. God has saved us, has redeemed us to be His Children.  Let’s look as this concept found in Romans 8:15:

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,Father.”

Once again, we shouldn’t fear because we are sons of the living God! Think of when fear crippled you as a kid.  Whether it was diving into a pool for the first time, or stepping onto ice to skate: we all were filled with fear.  And we stand there. Standing. Still standing.  Fear prevents us from taking that step.

I remember one summer where I climbed a large tree that overhung a lake.  At the top was a swing that went out past the farthest limbs and into the water.  That first step was difficult, and there was definitely fear.  This is important, because fear cripples us spiritually:

-Fear prevents us from walking into what God has called us to do

-Fear is not relying that God will do what He has promised

-Fear is conceding to the flesh, rejecting the Spirit

Those three points are piercing, but so true.  When we let fear over take our lives, we miss out on so much.  It’s like a mask is put over our eyes.  This is why it is so important to live in a way void of fear.  God does not want us to fear - we are redeemed - we are His people, His children! Rest assured today in the promise God brings, fear not, for our great God is with you!

Nothing can take me from Your great Love, forever this truth remains - I belong, I belong to You
