  • What a View

So I was driving the other day and had the opportunity to be on a road pretty high up on a hill. Isn’t is amazing what you see when you are on higher ground!  I couldn’t believe what the sky looked like on this particular night. Layers upon layers upon layers of sparkling stars laced on a backdrop of black space.  I thought of this verse:

    Isaiah 40:26:

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

What a great and mighty God - He created the heavens - the Lord of hosts is He!  Let’s get back to the scene though - I was on higher ground.  Previously driving on lower terrain, I knew that the sky was beautiful, it was a clear night, but it was just that - I knew it, but I could not see it.  I had to climb higher, I had to press on in order to catch a better glimpse of what was above and around me.

What a truth in our spiritual walk!  In order to see more of God and experience more of His Presence, we must press forward and climb up the hill.  So many times the Bible uses this reference: it states “I lift my eyes unto the hills, from where my help comes from,”  Moses climbed a mountain to and saw the presence of God.  That act of looking up, getting above the matters and distractions of life to where we can focus on Him.  There’s a key word: FOCUS. We will have a difficult time focusing on the Lord if hills and tree branches and buildings are blocking our view of Him.  As we climb higher in the Lord, it doesn’t get easier, but the more we see Him the more we press on with even greater strength, His strength!  And when we need His strength He will give it to us - wait patiently before Him and press on with renewed strength.  As the passage in Isaiah stated, not one of the starry hosts is missing - because of His great power and strength.  Even more so it is true that we don’t go missing on this journey in God’s eyes. He finds us, provides for us; He LOVES us.

If he knows us so much, do we know Him? Maybe we need to “drive” to a higher place and take down the things that block us from a panoramic view of His presence, His glory, His splendor and majesty!  You can get there right now, just by finding a place and going before the Lord, just you and Him.  Ready? Go - and get to know Him - the view is so worth it :)
