God’s Complete Work
How many of us start different projects, excited to try something new, and end up with some sort of half-finished weird looking “thing.” Or how about this - we are determined to go the gym, and a faithfully committed for two maybe even three weeks and then…nothing. I know personally for me, this happens a lot when I paint. I’ll leave a picture that I began working on half-finished or missing parts. It can be weeks, months, even years before its finished! Thank goodness God doesn’t work like that!
Philippians 1:6 states:
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
What assurance we find knowing that God does not give up on us. The process of growth He has us in is a life-long journey - it may look different as seasons of life change, but we are a constant work in the hands of God, complete only when we meet Him!
You know, with this idea of God continually working in us and through us, we are in fact His works in progress. We are masterpieces in His eyes; He knows exactly what strokes to put here, what shadow to add depth there and so on. Ephesians 2:10 states:
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”
The beautiful thing is - God sees us how He created us - beautiful in His sight, cleansed and made new in through the work of Jesus, ready to be used for Kingdom work. Yet we loose that focus. We get caught up in the pain, worry, regret, and trials of life and take our eyes from how God sees us, and neglect that He is doing a GOOD work. Remember that - His work is always good. And He will complete the work He has begun in each and every one of us, and it in fact is a beautiful thing.
